Mrs. V's is always a solid choice for breakfast. Good food, decent prices and friendly staff. It can get a bit busy and loud on weekends.
What more can I say: great breakfast, great service, great prices! I went during a weekday and got the hash stack. Talk about a great sampler of all the awesome breakfast staples they have. It also came hot and quick. Coming from the West Coast, this place definitely has a Midwest charm I loved. I can't believe I've actually done fast food breakfast down the road over here. I can't wait to go back and try more on the menu!
Service was incredibly quick. We received our coffee within seconds of us sitting down at the tables. The food overall was really tasty. Hash browns were a little bland but salt and pepper is on the table so you can get it to the saltiness each person wants. The gravy on the country fried steak was one of the best gravies I have ever had. I now have to come back to have their biscuits and gravy to enjoy more of it. My wife had a shortstack plate with strawberries. She was concerned it would be overly sweet, it wasn't which is great. Definitely recommend giving it a shot.
Came in 5/3/26 ordered two meat lovers skillets. They screwed up my food and I took a steak fajita to-go. At the time of pay the manager ringing me up was RUDE. All I asked was "will the tip go to the waitress?"? She followed up with "your money will go to the bank." Right when I decided to eat the steak fajita oh the food and prep was HORRIBLE. Of course I called they said they would have a credit for me for the steak fajitas. I come in today (5/11/26) and order. Service was terrible. The ambience was alright. At the time of pay I told them of the credit. THE OWNER was ringing me up! I told em of the credit! He did NOT honor the credit promised to me! Kept saying "oh well I'm the owner" ??? Doesn't know his employees? Native to round lake. I'll never come back here again.
Lived in RL from May '89-Nov '02 and live out in Beach Park now. This past Feb. marked the very 1st time dining here since it used to be Blue Bay when I dined in last. Yes, 20+ years it's been. Pretty much the same type of menu with a good ol' fashioned breakfast which is something I always look forward to when dining in a traditional American family restaurant. Good food at reasonable prices despite the climbing food supply cost and increased minimum wage, relatively spacious setting with a dining area that is kept clean/sanitized. Service is top notch and I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right but our server Tori was superb and very attentive, easily a reason to come back soon.
If you’re in town, you’ve gotta visit this gem. It’s one of my favorite local restaurants - fully loaded with a hefty menu, generous serving sizes, lovely staff, an efficient kitchen, and a personable, hands-on manager. I have tried a variety of things and have yet to be disappointed but I, personally, usually stick to crepes (flavor depends on mood) and a vanilla milkshake. Highly recommend getting a scoop of ice cream with the crepes!
My wife has been coming to this place since before it was Mrs vs, when it was blue bay. She and her family stayed for the change and now anytime my wife and I come to visit her family we stop by here for breakfast on the final day! Always a fantastic time. Very family friendly and the eggs Benedict is great. 😀
Every time I have been to Mrs. V's I have always been happy with the food and service. The entire staff are very welcoming and professional. Is it a 5 star restaurant, no, but it offers good food and great service. If you are looking for good "diner" type fare I would feel good about recommending Mrs. V's.
Legit old school family restaurant, with a great selection! And most importantly the food taste great! The service is years of experience and on point. Fast , accurate, and smooth experience from start to end. Highly recommend especially when friends or family can't decide on same type of food! Everyone gets to eat what they want! Ambience is typical for a reasonably priced diner, but most importantly it's clean.
I've been going there for several years! The owners always greet you with a smile. The servers are friendly and at the same time professional. I have my favorites as far as their food goes...love the omelets, love the roast beef wraps w/ fries...love their selection of desserts...always pleased!
